IRS Issues Warning of New Tax Scam

The Internal Revenue Service has issued a new warning regarding the latest tax scam.

Criminals are posing as IRS employees and agents and are sending letters via email or fax to unsuspecting taxpayers. The letter demands bank account information and request that the letter be faxed back, along with Form W8BEN, Certificate of Foreign Status of Beneficial Owner for United States Tax Withholding.

The scam mainly targets International taxpayers and non-resident aliens.

Remember, never give personal information out via phone or fax to anyone. If you receive a letter in the mail from the IRS or your local state taxing agency, please notify me as soon as possible. I will determine whether or not the letter is legitimate.

Feel free to contact me with questions via email, text or phone call.

Have a great weekend!
